Looking for locally grown, best quality produce?
We can provide you with a basket of fresh, delicious produce weekly. Additionally, we sell eggs, chicken, beef and turkey. Thank you for buying local and supporting your MN Farmers!
The glow of the morning sun just before it bursts over the horizon to shine on plump ripe berries dripping with dew while happy hens cackle good morning, the warm afternoon winds rustling in the deep green sea of sweet corn while the shiny young calves dance with the sunshine around the pasture, the faint whoosh as hundreds of earthworms slink into their holes with each passing footstep on a cool summers evening while cows lay on the damp earth quietly chew their cud in the shadows of fading light under the canopy of ash trees; these are the experiences that exhilarate our senses, these are the joyous moments we recognize we are but temporary caretakers of this beautifully designed world, these are the encouragement to focus on our blessings and share our farm with you.
We are Dean and Jean Braatz and the owners of My Minnesota Farmer CSA farm. We are so excited about becoming your farmer but we are also eager to get to know you. We will be opening up our lives and our farm to you. Dean grew up farming and dreaming of farming since his earliest memories. He has raised nearly every domesticated animal one could think of at one point or another and has been gardening for fun and food since he was a high school senior 18 years ago. Jean had the gardening experience but needed a crash course in livestock when we moved to our own farm in 2004. Jean, being an educator, learned quickly, and now loves to share and teach others about how their food is grown and raised and the amazing healthy, tasty difference in local, sustainably grown food from My Minnesota Farmer.
We are now taking members for the 2013 season. Our shares went quickly last year but we are adding additional members for this season. We, at My Minnesota Farmer would love to grow for you. In addition to our fruit and vegetable shares we have chicken, turkey, beef and eggs. Thank you for considering My Minnesota Farmer! We look forward to growing for you.
What can I expect in my CSA basket?
A full share will contain approximately 5/9 bushel (although last year the majority of the weeks were a larger 1 1/9th bushel) of produce that is ripe and delicious each week. The full share should feed four people who eat a moderate amount of fresh produce. We also offer a half share that would feed about two hearty produce eaters.
The baskets will contain different produce as the season progresses. Typical produce for the season includes:
Early season boxes: radishes, strawberries, sweet peas, spring onions, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, kale and greens.
Mid Season boxes: green beans, zucchini, new potatoes, summer squash, green peppers, tomatoes, carrots, beets, cucumbers and garlic.
Late Season boxes: apples, raspberries, squash, cabbage, storage onions, pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, muskmelon and watermelon.
and so much more!
Looking for a longer season? Here is what to expect in our extended season boxes:
Pre-season boxes: delicious strawberries, sweet peas, leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, radishes, broccoli and green onions.
Post-season box: potatoes, squash, cabbage, greens, apples, carrots, broccoli, peppers and storage onions.
Can't stand the long fruitless winter? We also offer a winter share:
Winter boxes: potatoes, onions, garlic, frozen goods, canned goods, squash, carrots, cabbage, kohlrabi, kale, pumpkins and fresh greens from the high tunnels.
What else do you offer?
During the CSA season we also offer egg shares. You can get a full dozen of eggs with your CSA basket every week. Our productive gold star chickens are happily laying delicious, brown, farm fresh eggs.
Our tender broiler chickens are grown outside in the fresh air, grass and sunshine and are never fed any antibiotics. We order the broilers in early spring so let us know early if you are interested in some tasty, young chicken!
Beef is tender and delicious around here. From fresh steaks to hamburger, our grass fed beef is a sure way to know what you are feeding your family is 100% home grown goodness. No chemicals needed!
Tasty Thanksgiving turkeys grown just for you and ready the weekend before Thanksgiving. We raise these birds on pasture to ensure we have naturally healthy birds that receive the absolute best care.
We have delicious fresh brown eggs available for $3.00 at the farm as well until the CSA season starts up again in June. And there are still some tender whole chickens available. Send us an email if you are interested.
